Buta Embroidered Cushion Cover

A stunningly embroidered rectangular cushion cover featuring the ancient buta or boteh motif. The buta/boteh is common in both Iranian and South Asian textiles and takes various forms - a teardrop, a mango, a flower, a leaf or in some cases a cypress tree. Here it is worked in cream, grey and yellow thread on lightly printed cotton. There is a hidden zip fastening.

Made by a social enterprise that works mainly with female artisanal communities in rural Pakistan.
